Art has always been an important part of my life, especially the art of books, which I have had a strong attachment to since childhood. I am drawn to the way a book feels in my hands and the way the pages turn, revealing just a little more of itself at a time. The illustrations in books have always been especially intriguing to me.

The majority of my college education has been focused on freehand and life drawing, painting and printmaking, and most recently artist’s books and illustration. In 2004, I earned my Associate in Visual Arts degree with Honors at San Diego City College, and I am currently working to complete my Bachelors degree with an emphasis in Illustration at San Diego State University. I am also preparing to apply to Master of Fine Arts programs in Sydney, Australia. Incorporating culture into my artwork is very important to me.

The general aim of my proposed graduate program is to discover unique ways to combine my painting skills with printmaking and book art techniques to create book illustrations. I love to experiment with different art mediums, although my favorite techniques are watercolor and artist's books.

I am interested in any work that is illustration or book related!
